Pishi Studio

My name is Anna Rau.  Welcome to my website for Pishi Studio.

 

I grew-up in Rochester, MN and I now live in Minneapolis, MN.  I teach ESL in the south metro area of the Twin Cities.  I have a BA and a MA both from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN.  I majored in sociology with a minor in education.

 

I have always loved drawing and painting.  My first "published" work was when I was five years old.  My work was titled "Cat Baseball" and was featured in Highlights magazine.  I have developed a little more skill and technique since that time.

 

Besides drawing and painting, my interests also include languages and linguistics (in particular, sociolinguistics), taking care of animals, and playing the violin (I started playing when I was seven years old).  I also like traveling and making artwork from photographs I took on my travels.  I am a major tea-drinker (supplemented with coffee in the AM, out of necessity), and I enjoy wine and hoppy beer.  I mention my beverage preferences because they are often featured in my artwork.
