Who Are These Two Ladies?

This first painting of a little girl is from a photo of my grandmother ("Oma"). She was about four years old and posed for a photo on her stoop in Chicago with her "Halloween Dollhouse" (don't ask). My Oma proudly has the original painting hanging in her home.

This painting is of my other grandmother. I painted it from a photo of my grandma fishing at a creek. It's humorous because my grandma was 100% Norwegian and catching a fish the size of your pinky finger would make any Scandinavian shake his or her head in disappointment. I also like this photo (and painting) because I feel it captures how I remember my grandmother--her smile, her Norweigan sweater, her laugh.
